Year 3 & 4: Greek Pots
In their history topic, the Year 3s and 4s have been studying Ancient Greece. In art, we have been making monster pots but in the last few lessons of the half-term, we are learning about Ancient Greek pots and creating a pot design of our own.
The children began by practising on whiteboards to ensure that their drawings were symmetrical. We learned the names and uses of different pots and they could choose which they wanted to use as the basis of their design:
Next, it was time to transfer the design to paper:
We decorated the pots with repeating patterns and some children added figures based on the Ancient Greek pots that we had seen.
Finally, the children cut out their pot, stuck it to a black background and added a patterned border:
