Sensory Workshops
We run a one hour sensory workshop every week for pupils with sensory differences. During these sessions, children engage in activities which support individual areas of need. Sensory activities support pupils’ development by:
-
Helping them to understand how their actions impact on the world around them.
-
Supporting brain development, boosting memory, improving ability to complete complex tasks and problem solve.
-
Improving fine-motor skills.
-
Improving language development, communication and social skills.
-
Enhancing memory.
-
Improving observational skills.
-
Encouraging creative and independent thinking.
-
Improving emotional regulation by providing a calming effect on children’s angry or anxious feelings.
These workshops include activities such as playing with Playdough, finding treasures in shaving foam, digging for dinosaurs in sand, blowing bubbles, exploring different textures, water play, Lego, exploring light and sound and exploring crafts to take home.
