Willingham Primary School

Sensory Room

We are lucky enough to have our own sensory room here in school which the Willingham School Association (WSA) raised the funds for.  Our sensory room provides children with a safe space to explore their senses, helping them develop self-regulation skills and manage overstimulation. This is a calm space with a range of sensory toys and resources to support pupils individual needs. The space has reduced light and is in a quiet are of the school and has proven hugely beneficial for pupils from across all year groups.

Specialist equipment such as weighted blankets, wedge cushions, emotions cushions, light toys, instruments and sensory beanbags, to name a few , are used to support pupils when they need to step away from the classroom to regulate and feel secure. Our sensory room provides our pupils with a space to be calm, focussed and feel secure. They are provided with the comfort they need to be able to return to the classroom.

Y2 Boy – It is a lovely, calm room with lots of lovely toys. My favourites are the squashy things.

Y2 Boy – I love all the squeezy toys.
